In 1838 that Antoni Bencini, of Milton, North Carolina was granted his patent. It was among the first tea and coffee machines that used a vacuum to brew the infusion. The siphon coffee pot has two chambers, a carafe on the bottom and a coffee brewer on top. Water goes into the bottom carafe and ground coffee into the brewer above. When the bottom water carafe is exposed to heat, the water vaporises, creating pressure inside the bottom container. The water vapour is forced into the top coffee chamber, and brewing takes place; much like beloved models that are common today.
