In 1925, Lewis Francis Herreshoff improved the efficiency of a sailboat by modifying the mast to have a relatively thin forward edge, giving it a streamline shape that is able to eliminate wind irregularities, allowing a smoother and faster sail experience. Now known as the Herreshoff S-Boat, this sailboat is known for its excellent sailing performance.
