Clarence Fender created a tremolo device in 1954. His device would be placed on the bridge of the instrument where the tremolo arm would be placed. The tension applied to the strings could be varied to create a tremolo effect. The device could be arranged so that the effective operating length of each string could be individually adjusted as per the user's desire. This device is responsible for the creation of many great works of music present in the world today, and an iconic sight.
