In 1917, Robert Miehle provided the world with an important improvement to the printing press. His invention removed the impairment of the printing cylinders by removing the direct gear connections between the cylinders where one runs the other. This removed the slippage of both cylinders and removed any grinding on the printing surface. Miehle portrayed that his invention would work best in conjunction with multi-color printing.
